Norway is one of the world's safest travel destinations. Violent crime is rare; petty crime is minimal by international standards. The safety conversation for Norway is almost entirely about environmental preparedness: (1) Fjord weather: always carry full waterproof layers regardless of morning conditions — Norwegian weather changes without warning; (2) Life jacket: non-negotiable for any small boat; kayak; or RIB zodiac activity in fjord or coastal waters — fjord water temperature causes rapid incapacitation; (3) Trolltunga/Preikestolen hiking: check weather forecast; carry warm layers and rain gear; do not take edge photography risks that have caused fatal falls; allow 8-10 hours for Trolltunga; (4) Svalbard: polar bears are present throughout the archipelago outside Longyearbyen — never leave the settlement without a rifle or armed guide; (5) Avalanche: check varsom.no daily for mountain activities November-May; (6) Driving: mountain pass and fjord road driving requires attention; moose on rural roads after dark are a genuine hazard.

Hungary is a safe travel destination. Budapest is generally safe for tourists. Key precautions: (1) Bar scam — the most important safety briefing for Budapest; attractive strangers inviting tourists to bars with inflated bills and intimidation tactics are well-documented; refuse politely and firmly and walk away; (2) Licensed taxis only — Bolt app or FőTaxi; avoid street taxis at Keleti station and the airport; (3) Pickpockets on the Budapest metro — money belt for tourist circuit. Violent crime against tourists is rare. Rural Hungary is safe with minimal crime. Zero-tolerance drunk driving (0.0‰ BAC) in Hungary — do not drive after any alcohol consumption.

Denmark is a safe travel destination for tourists overall. The Level 2 terrorism designation requires context rather than alarm — the documented terrorism history is specific (cartoon controversy-related) and the 2022 Fields shooting was the only major incident in recent years. Practical guidance: situational awareness in Strøget; Nørreport area; Tivoli Gardens (particularly during large events); and Copenhagen Central Station. Gang violence hot zones — Nørrebro specific parts; Mjølnerparken housing estate area — are not on the tourist circuit and are easily avoided. Petty crime: pickpocketing on the Copenhagen metro and at tourist attractions; money belt or anti-theft bag recommended. Cycling: helmet strongly recommended; respect bike lanes (fast and busy); Copenhageners cycle aggressively and do not yield to confused tourists. Faroe Islands safety: follow weather forecasts on yr.no; never approach cliff edges in wind or fog; many Faroese hiking paths have sheer coastal drop-offs with no railings. Greenland: never leave Nuuk or major settlement without guide or polar bear protection arrangements.

Czech Republic is a very safe travel destination. Low violent crime; Prague's main safety issue is organized tourist-targeted pickpocket operations (Old Town; Charles Bridge; trams 22/23). Recommendations: keep valuables in a crossbody bag or money belt; never put your wallet in a back pocket on public transport; beware 'helpful' strangers on trams who position themselves closely. Always use licensed taxis or ride-hailing apps (Bolt; Uber) — unlicensed taxis in Prague historically overcharge tourists. Zero-tolerance drunk driving law is strictly enforced — never drive after any alcohol consumption.

Bangladesh is a Level 3 Reconsider Travel country — the security picture has improved since the summer 2024 political transition but the situation remains fluid and can deteriorate rapidly. Key safety guidance: (1) Protests and demonstrations: avoid all gatherings even those that appear peaceful — they can turn violent rapidly with little warning per the State Dept advisory; (2) Dhaka traffic: one of the world's most dangerous road environments — use only reputable hired vehicles with seatbelts; avoid rickshaws for city travel; (3) Chittagong Hill Tracts: heightened security risk from ongoing ethnic violence; permit required for foreigners to visit certain CHT areas; consult current US Embassy alerts; (4) Terrorism: Bangladesh has experienced Islamist terrorist attacks targeting foreigners and secular Bangladeshis; the July 2016 Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka killed 22 people including 7 Japanese; remain vigilant at hotels; restaurants; and venues frequented by foreigners; (5) Kidnapping risk: noted in the State Dept Level 3 indicators. Finland is one of Europe's safest travel destinations for tourists. Violent crime is very rare; petty crime is minimal by any international standard. The primary safety considerations for Finland are environmental rather than criminal: (1) Finnish winter driving: mandatory winter tires December 1 through February 28 (or in snowy conditions); ice roads on frozen lakes in Lapland — follow posted weight limits strictly; (2) Reindeer on roads in Lapland — extremely common and unpredictable; slow down and be prepared to stop; reindeer are owned and their deaths are compensated claims; (3) Midnight sun/polar night: carry sleep mask for midnight sun travel; light therapy for extended polar night stays; (4) Sauna safety: hydrate well with water; limit first sessions to 10-15 minutes; cardiovascular caution for older adults and those with heart disease; (5) Lake and sea swimming: Finnish lakes are cold even in summer (15-18°C maximum in southern Finland); hypothermia can occur in open water swimming; (6) Russia border: do not approach or attempt to cross the Russia-Finland border — it is closed to civilians and patrolled by Finnish Border Guard.
