Serbia's consultation opens with context, not vaccines: the anti-corruption protest movement that began with the November 2024 Novi Sad railway station collapse is the largest since Milošević fell in 2000, and it has not ended — President Vučić announced in June 2026 that he would step down, snap elections are expected, and demonstrations have continued through the transition, with mass detentions and documented police force as recently as this summer. None of that makes Serbia unvisitable; Belgrade remains vibrant and the food scene is outstanding and absurdly affordable. It does make one rule categorical: avoid every demonstration, every time — crowds form fast, and the police response has been unpredictable.

Clinically: TBE is endemic in the forested mountains — Kopaonik, Zlatibor, Tara — so hikers and campers from April through November should discuss the vaccine; tick checks are mandatory either way. Belgrade's winter air quality is poor enough that patients with asthma or COPD should pack accordingly. University Clinical Center is the referral hospital but English is inconsistent and cash is expected — Bel Medic is the international-patient option — and anything complex means Vienna or Budapest, ninety minutes by air. One operational trap: entering Serbia from Kosovo without a prior Serbian entry stamp can mean denial at the border. Sequence the itinerary accordingly.
